Our South Fork High School Coach Spotlight this week is: Tony Malizia. Coach Malizia is our Boys Varsity Golf Coach during Fall Athletic Season and our Boys Baseball Coach during the Spring Season. This is Coach Malizia’s 5th year coaching golf at South Fork, but his 20th year coaching golf altogether. He really enjoys both golf and coaching and has a great knowledge of the game. Coach Malizia does an amazing job teaching his athletes the fundamentals of golf. Our Varsity Boys Golf team and our Varsity Boys Baseball team have had great success under Coach Malizia’s guidance.
Coach Malizia grew up in Utica, New York and moved to Florida in 1990. He has been teaching for a total of 28 years and teaching at South Fork for 5 (He has also taught in neighboring Port Saint Lucie). Not only does Coach Malizia show his athletes what’s up on the course and field, but he also teaches the Construction Program here at South Fork. His program allows high school students to learn a specific trade and gain valuable certifications to use after they graduate.
Coach Tony Malizia played varsity golf and varsity baseball in High School for all 4 years. He fell in love with both sports and passes that love onto his players. His favorite professional golfer is, Tony Manero. Manero grew up in New York where Coach Malizia’s father grew up and owned a driving range there.
Make sure you come out and catch a Golf match or Baseball game this year and cheer on our Bulldogs and their awesome coach!
